The Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program is excited to welcome our new class of 24 Fellows for the 2018-2019 year.Our Fellows are outstanding and dedicated emerging professionals who embody the legacy of Albert Schweitzer as leaders in service. They will be implementing a range of projects that highlight their creativity, passion, and commitment to serve disadvantaged communities.
This year’s projects support many populations, including: children and youth, refugees, the elderly, people with disabilities, and veterans. Fellows will be implementing a range of projects, which include:
- Skill building for 16 to 21-year-old students at Western PA School for the Deaf
- Health workshops on mental health and obesity
- An after-school program to empower students to be leaders in addressing community health issues
- Pharmacy workshops for elderly refugees
- Healthy cooking classes and education for veterans and their families
- Yoga and mindfulness practices for incarcerated women
- Education classes for expectant and new mothers on health, self-care, and environmentally friendly baby products
Each year, our Fellows need a variety of supplies and items to support their projects. Below is a wish list of items for our 2018-2019 class.
