My name is Alexis Myers, and I’m a Certified Pediatric Nurse Practitioner at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh. I am also a Certified Pediatric Primary Care Mental Health Specialist. I work in the Community Health Division as well as the Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine division. I feel very fortunate to be able to work in both spaces, as my clinical interest is in community health and adolescent care.
This year I have been a Pittsburgh Schweitzer Fellows Program Site Mentor to Sandra Talbot at the Homewood Early Learning Hub and Family Center.
I am originally from Phoenix, AZ. I completed my Registered Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing training at Vanderbilt University in Nashville, TN. After nursing school, I moved back to my hometown of Phoenix where I worked in pediatric primary care. While at this job, I found my love of adolescent medicine. I decided to pursue a Fellowship in Adolescent and Young Adult Health at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh, which I completed in spring 2020. I am currently pursuing my PhD in Nursing Science from Rush University focusing on the strengths of African American adolescent males who have experienced the death of a family member or close friend.
